In this single post are all of the websites that I have done both design and coding/code manipulation (HTML/CSS) for. I have yet to do any work with Javascript or jQuery, but I would not mind learning these languages in a steady and paced environment. Please browse the selections below.

This was my portfolio upon graduation from Herron.

A WordPress theme I created. I wanted to have a blog and so I created a theme for it. I had to have a basic understanding of PHP to place server requests within the graphic elements (for loading links and entries).

This was the website element of a sophomore year project at Herron. It is the only website we designed at Herron as part of client coursework.

This was a landing page for Rare Bird, Inc. to show them what my web experiences had been.

Nature’s Storyteller: The Life of Gene Stratton-Porter – Indiana Historical Society Press

Nature’s Storyteller: The Life of Gene Stratton-Porter, is authored by Barbara Olenyik Morrow (with book cover design by Stacy Simmer). This book is the first published book that I have had the pleasure to design for. I laid out all images, flowed all type, and made sure everything lined up right. It was fun being able to take a stack of copy files and great imagery, and turn it into a fine book for young and old alike. Everything from the chapter headers to the index in the back was laid out in InDesign CS4 with good use of paragraph styles. Doing a work like this takes a detailed eye and great consideration for readability. Please browse the images below for more detail.

Shadow of Shiloh Maps – Indiana Historical Society Press

Shadow of Shiloh: Major General Lew Wallace in the Civil War, is a book published by IHS Press. It has been noted in a few reviews (here and here) that the maps are of exceptional quality. The book, its images, and layout were done by Stacy Simmer and the Civil War maps were designed by me! The maps were created in Illustrator, mostly with the Pen tool and a steady hand (all while using a mouse). There were several revisions throughout the month of May, when I was solely dedicated to creating these maps. My book is signed by Gail Stephens, the author, noting my craftsmanship on these maps. Below are some examples.

Winterfest – Indiana Historical Society

Winterfest was a three-day event from December 27th through December 30th at the Indiana History Center. There was a scavenger hunt in the building and a take-home activity sheet for at-home activity ideas. This was a fun campaign to work on and design for!

Sales and Marketing Expertise – iDiz Inc.

Sales and Marketing Expertise is a company started with the idea of getting new products launched into the market. It is by these very words that I conceived various logo designs. I wanted to have at least 4 new ideas for the client.

In this project, I used keywords and initial sketches to get ideas for movement and launch. From there I moved to digitizing many of the ideas before settling on a few.

By the time this was sent to the client, I had created eight logos to choose from. These were delivered via PDF, 4-up per page. The final logo choice is still pending review.
